Niklas Bergknut

After graduating from the University of Uppsala 2000, Niklas worked with pets in Sweden and the UK for six years. He then started a joint PhD project between Sweden and the Netherlands mid 2007-2010, in the field of intervertebral disc degeneration. After his PhD he worked at Utrecht University, where he completed his European specialist training in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery. Subsequently, Niklas continued working as a neurologist at Utrecht University until 2016. In August 2016, Niklas moved to the United Kingdom and worked at North Downs Specialist Referrals for two years before returning to the Netherlands to take on the role of head of neurology and neurosurgery for Evidensia.

Niklas has a passion for sharing the fantastic world of veterinary neurology and regularly lectures on various neurological topics. He has also published several scientific articles and chapters in neurology books, including chapters in Veterinary Clinics of North America and Veterinary Surgery. He spends his free time with his family, walking his dog Azzi and trying to master the art of photography.
