Geert Paes - Dipl. Internal Medicine
Geert Paes Veterinary Specialist Dipl. Internal Medicine

My name is Geert, I graduated as a veterinarian pet at the faculty of veterinary medicine in 2006 in Ghent (Belgium). Because during my studies I developed a special interest in the reprocessing and treatment of challenging and complex cases, I specialized further in internal medicine. I completed a one-year Small Animal Rotating Internship and a three-year Residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Ghent, where I continued to work until the end of 2012. As I am not only passionate about animals, I also worked as a tour guide in my spare time. During a trip in Nepal I met my Canadian husband and at the end of 2012 I moved to Vancouver, Canada. Here I worked for six years in several large emergency and referral clinics. In 2018 I moved back to Belgium with my family and since early 2019 I started working for Evidensia Netherlands. I work a few days a month in the Animal Hospital Hart van Brabant. I also give online refresher courses to veterinarians and work as a telemedicine consultant (providing telephone assistance to veterinarians during the reprocessing of complex internal medicine cases) for IVC Evidensia Netherlands as well as for a Belgian laboratory.

Outside veterinary medicine I am married and have a son. Since we as a family often travel to and from Canada, we have decided for the time being to live without pets for a while. Luckily, I can fully express my love for animals at work and I can regularly look after dogs of friends! In my spare time I do yoga, walk and dance a lot.
